Tara Atkinson

Tara Atkinson is a contact improvisation performance artist, interdisciplinary creator, photographer and producer whose practice explores the relationship between the body, movement and the natural world.

With a background in circus arts, contact improvisation, acrobatics and flow arts, her work brings together movement, photography, sound and environmental performance to explore ideas of connection, belonging and our relationship with the spaces we inhabit.

 

From Portsmouth UK, Tara's creative practice has been shaped by the rapidly changing landscapes of the UAE where she spent most of her teenage years. This developed a curiosity about cultures, environmental issues and how we connect with our surroundings through movement. Through establishing a contact improvisation community in the UAE and moving back to the UK in Portsmouth she is expanding her collective exploration, experimentation and movement research.

Her work moves between live performance, visual storytelling and multimedia artistic production, exploring the body as both a landscape and a means of connecting people, places and environments.​
